Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
Place chicken in roasting dish.
Drizzle with oil and sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
Cook in oven for 50 to 60 minutes or until the juices run clear when pierced and the internal temperature reads 165°F (75°C) on an instant read thermometer.
Allow to cool at room temperature for 10 minutes before slicing.
Cook chicken for 18 to 20 minutes per pound.
