Even tofu haters will be converted with this recipe! When you bake tofu with a marinade, you infuse all the delicious flavours in, and get a slightly chewy outside. Serve baked tofu with rice and a veggie, use in a fresh roll, or a stir fry! You’ll love it.
Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Cut tofu in half, and cut each half into 4 pieces. You should have 8 rectangles. Cut each rectangle in half diagonally to make 16 triangles. Place in the baking dish in 1 layer.
In a cup or mixing bowl, combine the soy sauce, sesame oil, maple syrup, garlic, and ginger. Mix to combine. Pour this over the tofu. Add water until it reaches half to ¾ up the sides of the tofu. Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake for 30 to 40 minutes or until almost all of the liquid has evaporated. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
This baked tofu goes great served with rice and broccoli, or you can use it as a healthy vegetarian protein in any dish.
This recipe works best in a small pan. If you do not have a 9x9 inch baking dish, you can use an 8x8 inch, or a 9-inch pie plate. It will not work as well if you use a larger 9x13 inch dish.
