Butter Tofu

Tofu is an excellent vegetarian protein alternative and can take on lots of flavours! It works very well in a curry or stew. If your family likes Indian food, try out this recipe.

Directions

Step 1 

In a large pot, heat 2 teaspoons of oil over medium heat. Fry the onion and garlic for 2 minutes or until translucent. Add the spices and cook for 1 minutes before adding the rest of the sauce ingredients.

Step 2 

Bring to a boil, cover, and cook on low heat for 15 minutes. Pour into a blender and blend until smooth. Set aside.

Step 3 

In a large frying pan over medium heat, cook the oil. Add tofu to a bowl, and add the cornstarch and spices. Toss to coat the tofu.

Step 4 

Brown the cubes of tofu on all sides until golden. Add the sauce to the tofu.

Step 5 

Serve curried butter tofu with rice or naan bread and steamed beans or another vegetable.
