Frozen Banana Pops

  • Prep time: 10 m

This frozen treat is super refreshing on a hot day. Bananas are an amazing fruit that actually don’t freeze solid and keep their creamy texture even when frozen! They make a perfect substitute for a popsicle and are even better when dipped in chocolate with your favourite toppings. Just remember to freeze your bananas ahead of time WITHOUT the peel!

Directions

Step 1

Insert stick into banana pieces half way through and place on a tray. Freeze for 2 to 4 hours or until solid.

Step 2

When bananas are frozen, melt chocolate in a cup in the microwave. Melt for 1 minute, stir, and then repeat for 30 seconds at a time until melted. Make sure to not microwave for longer as it can burn the chocolate and make it clumpy!

Step 3

Dip your bananas into melted chocolate, shake off any excess, and then dip into your desired toppings. You can also use a plastic bag to drizzle the chocolate onto bananas. Simply pour chocolate into a plastic bag, and make a small snip on one corner. Use the bag to drizzle chocolate over bananas and sprinkle with toppings.

Step 4

Place bananas back onto the tray. Enjoy right away or store in freezer for 1 week.

Tips & Variations

  • Chocolate chips do not melt well for this recipe. Look for a brick of baking chocolate for best results.

  • If you do not have a microwave, melt chocolate by bringing a pot of water to a boil, and placing a metal mixing bowl on top of the boiling water with the chopped chocolate. Stir until melted. Pour chocolate into a cup to dip.

  • To make this recipe gluten free, do not use granola as a topping.

  • To make this recipe nut free, do not add nuts as a topping.
