This recipe for pie crust can be used in sweet or savoury recipes. It uses part whole wheat flour for more fibre. Use to make a delicious pot pie or sweet apple pie!
In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt.
Coarsely grate the butter on a cheese grater. Add the butter to the flour.
Add the cold water, and mix until the flour has absorbed all the water and no dry bits remain. You can add more water 1 tablespoon at a time until it is absorbed. Make sure you keep the dough as dry as possible. If you add too much water, your crust will be rubbery and not flakey.
Form into a ball, and wrap in plastic. Place in fridge for 30 minutes.
Use dough in your recipe as described.
If using this recipe for a sweet pie, you can add a 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, or the zest of a lemon to add more flavour.
