In the summertime, it’s easy to reach for a sugary beverage to quench our thirst. Instead of grabbing a soda or store-bought drink that could be loaded with sugar, try making this healthy iced tea with your family! Making iced tea at home is easy, and since it’s homemade, it uses much less sugar than store-bought options. Use decaffeinated tea bags to make this a fun drink for everyone to enjoy.
Boil water. Pour into a pot or pitcher and add tea bags. Steep for 15 to 20 minutes. Remove tea bags.
Stir in maple syrup. Cut lemon in half. Squeeze the juice of one half into the tea, and slice the other half into slices. Add slices of lemon to tea. Allow the tea to cool to room temperature before placing it in the fridge to cool completely (about 4 hours or overnight).
Add 3 cups more water to the iced tea, and serve with ice and fresh lemon slices.
